Data Cleansing

North Somerset are about to embark on transition to CX. Would anybody have any tips or tricks on where to start with data cleansing / advice on what to do/not do to get things in order? Does one start with data cleansing? we are APP at the moment. Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Having done some N&A cleansing in the past few months, Lisa's advice "after deleting you will have lots of names and address unlinked run a report in NAR unlinked names and address and then take it to NAA and merge it to one record and take it back to NAU and delete that record. " is a revelation - I honestly never thought of that!! The time saving compared to running a delete against several tens of thousands of records would have been useful - I know the merge may take a while, and the size of the list may necessitate a couple of separate amalgamations (always worry about massive jobs going wrong half way through!) - but the ability to do all of this while leaving the system available to users is marvelous! Although we have not taken the plunge to Cx ourselves, I have been involved in some painful migrations in other systems over the years and echo Stephen's advice that less is more - in remaining with Civica you have the unique opportunity to keep a read only version of APP for historical purposes, so you could migrate only live records, or as stated, perhaps have staff re-enter the live cases into the new system as a form of training, as Stephen and Sue suggest
