Taxi/Private Hire Safeguarding and Road Safety Act

Hi all. Just wanted to share this (included in the NAFN newsletter recently) for those of you unaware. Many of us are actively contributing already to NR3 no doubt, but it appears the Commencement Order for legislation may be imminent.

The Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Safeguarding and Road Safety Act 2022 The new Legislation includes a mandatory requirement for licensing authorities to add refusals, revocations and suspensions to a national register, most likely to be NR3. To date, 98% of all English and Welsh Licensing Authorities are actively contributing to the register with over 105,000 searches, 11,000 entries and 402 daily actions occurring. NAFN continues to work with the DfT, LGA and the NR3 User Group on the development of the National Guidance and the NAFN API. The DfT anticipate the mandatory aspects of the Legislation will come into force by Commencement order in June of this year.
