Workshop - Time monitoring
It is becoming ever more important for Local Authorities to be able to account for the resources spent on the various services they provide. Time recording is important for understanding and demonstrating the resources required to process tasks such as service demands, licence applications or to carry out field work and other activities. Comparisons with staffing levels can be made and it can also lead to identifying efficiency savings as well as supporting chargeable functions.
John Murray, a Senior Environmental Health Officer and Lead Food Officer at Highland Council, will demonstrate how he extended the time recording functionality - initially needed for Food Standards Scotland requirements - across all Environmental Health services. The principles involved can equally be applied to other regulatory services.
