Presentation - Keeping Data Compliant (2 Feb 2021)

As promised at today`s Community Event, here is the presentation which includes links for gov.uk and the ICO, and has my contact details. As I mentioned, Brexit will have had minimal impact on our data so far, but we should stay informed in case things change over the coming months.

Although the actual tools referred to relate to APP, the principles of "tidy data" apply across all of our systems!

Further update on Data and Brexit - It has been reported that the EU has confirmed the UK data protection laws adequate, From The Register:

"The European Union has formally voted for proposals to give the UK "adequate" status in its data protection laws, allowing data sharing to continue in the post-Brexit world.

Voting through the draft "Commission Implementing Decisions on the adequate protection of personal data by the United Kingdom", the Committee on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data adopted the proposals for data sharing."

However, the "Taskforce on Innovation, Growth and Regulatory Reform" (TIGRR) headed by Ian Duncan Smith has recently published a report which suggests that Article 5 of the GDPR, enshrined in current UK Data Protection Act, is problematic for AI - if any changes in the UK laws result from reports like this, then our Adequate status may be challenged!

As always, watch this space...
